2 Kings 11:1-3 Now Ahaziah’s mother, Athaliah, saw that her son was dead. Then she killed all the royal family. But Jehosheba took Joash, Ahaziah’s son. She stole him from among the other sons of the king who were about to be murdered.
She put Joash and his nurse in a bedroom. She hid Joash from Athaliah. So he was not killed. (ICB Version)
Once upon a time there was a wicked queen who ruled over Judah. Her name was Athaliah. She seized the throne when her son, Ahaziah, died. She had everyone in the royal family hunted down and killed. All but one. King Ahaziah's son, Joash, who was hidden from the queen. He was the rightful king to the throne.
Jehosheba took Joash and hid him from her wicked stepmother. Jehosheba and Joash lived in the house of the Lord for six years. Then the high priest and his men put together a plan. They anointed Joash king of Judah because he belonged to the descendants of David. They shouted, "Long live the king."
The evil queen cried, "Treason! Treason!" But they took Queen Athaliah and removed her from the throne.
Once again, alters to the false god, Baal, were torn down. The house of the Lord was rebuilt, and the people of Judah started worshipping God again. An evil queen was conquered. The line of Judah was saved. All because of a brave woman
named Jehosheba.
God gave Jehosheba an important job. She saved the line of Judah. It took a lot of courage. Imagine what would have happened to Jehosheba if the evil queen had found out.
Courage is knowing God is with you wherever you go. So if friends around you are cheating, you don't have cheat, too. If they are bullying, stand up for the one they are bullying. If they are disrupting the class, be the one listening to the teacher. You never have to feel alone when you're doing what is right, because the Lion of Judah is with you. He will fight for you.
