Wrapped in His Garment of Salvation

The Verse:

I will rejoice greatly in the Lord,

My soul will exult my God;

For He has clothed me

with garments of salvation,

He has wrapped me

with a robe of righteousness,

As a bridegroom decks himself

with a garland,

And as a bride adorns herself

with her jewels.

Isaiah 61:10 (NASB Version)

The Story:

Have you ever felt pain or suffering? Maybe someone close to you broke your heart. Perhaps a friend or someone in your family did something that made you feel sad. Did you know God is close to you when your heart is broken? God puts you back together again.

God comforts you in your sadness. He gives you beauty instead of ashes. And he gives you the oil of gladness instead of sorrow. Isn't it amazing how much God cares for you?

But we cannot stand before a just and holy God on our own. We need to be wrapped in the Messiah's robe of righteousness. The Messiah is like our bridegroom. We are like His bride. And when we rejoice in Him, we get to experience His comfort, His salvation, His peace, and so much more.

Isaiah prophesied the coming of the Messiah. He would come and lift the veil from the eyes of our hearts. He is like the bridegroom who lifts the veil from the eyes of his bride on their wedding day. When the veil is lifted, we see the Messiah in all His beauty.

Read the word on each balloon again. You'll learn more about the Messiah and who He is to His bride who wraps herself in His robe of righteousness.

The Messiah is the bridegroom who shed His blood for his bride. Those who accept His free gift of salvation are His bride.

*The Messiah's traits taken from Isaiah 40-66
